The idea for Flame of Shame came about out of desperation to protect our works, whether it be graphics, html, meta tags, text or images. Two friends, Daphne of Barn Loft Candles and Victoria of Candles By Victoria, decided after finding their meta tags and html on other sites so often, that something needed to be done. Something that sent a clear message to those who would dare plagiarize us or anyone else who wanted to join us!

We have found the best recourse is to give them the attention they crave by listing them here on the Flame of Shame pages. It is usually enough of a humiliation to make them take down the stolen content!

We liken it to a bad check being tacked on a grocery store wall...shaming the bad check writers into paying their debt! It sends a clear message to would-be "web pirates" that says we will not stand for their thievery and do intend to police our copyright protected works.

By sharing information on plagiarizers in greater numbers, we stand a better chance at a successful and peaceful outcome!
